As of late, my painting process had involved a lot of layers and tape (for crisp lines). Thanks J. H. for playing with Gus this morning while I was able to make some headway on this painting. In the end, maybe some of you might recognize it as the building (in progress) in 5 Points that will house the shoe store and animal hospital.

First "Gus Buck" given
Kelly and sweet Ezra were the first recipients of "Gus Bucks" today. Gus had a time at their house while I was able to add a layer or two on the a new painting and meet with a local printer about a possible collaboration.
A quick overview of my studio work:
Right now I am making work that references landscape (islands) or items that we tend to pin to landscape (flags, construction fences). I've been making the flags work since 2007, and can say, four years into it, that I am only scratching the surface. Not only am I invested in the formal qualities of these stark, quotidian items, but I love the implications of the forms- that this world is a work in progress- (and to personalize it even further, we are ever changing, created and reworked daily). I also love that these half built environments can begin to speak (through my titles) about our economic moment, relationships, etc.
